Swim Team Survival Guide

Swim meets are a fun experience and allow teammates to bond with another and support each other in competition. The following are tips on what to pack and how to survive a swim meet.

  • Patience! Meets are typically about three hours long
  • Weather varies and can often change throughout the day, pack for cold, hot and wet weather
  • Shelter is highly recommended. Invest in a pop-up tent for both hot and wet weather
  • Stadium chairs
  • Blanket
  • Trash bags to keep your items dry in case of rain
  • A Sharpie for writing events on your swimmers' wrists
  • Plenty of sunscreen
  • Hats for sun protection
  • Extra swim suits, caps and goggles
  • Extra towels
  • Extra sweatshirts and sweatpants
  • Entertainment to fill time between races (cards, games, coloring books)
  • Plenty of water and drinks
