Heritage Swim Team is a fun, social, and competitive experience. Coaches focus their attention on stroke technique and specific racing techniques appropriate for each age level. We have competition from 6U through 16U. Distances on swim team are age appropriate with 6U racing 25 yards which is ½ the length of the pool, 10U will race events of 25 yards, 11-17 years olds will race between 50 and 100 yards, depending on the events they are assigned. The Heritage Swim Team is a great complement to Heritage Swim Lessons.
Swim meets are the heart of competitive swimming. Heritage swimmers compete in five Colonial League meets beginning in late June. Most meets are Saturday morning with the exception of one or two mid-week match ups. In addition to regular meets, swimmers may qualify to swim in special meets such as the All Star Meet or the Colonial Classic. The last swim meet of the season is the Championship meet in which all five Colonial League teams compete against one another. The Championship meet is always the first Saturday in August and marks the end of the Swim Team program for the season.
While attendance at all meets in highly encouraged, it is not mandatory. However, swimmers must swim in at least two regularly scheduled meets in order to qualify for Championships. Swim meets are highly scheduled and coordinated, so it is imperative that you follow the notification rules for attending or missing a meet. Last-minute cancellations create logistical problems.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if your child is ill the morning of a meet or for any other swim team questions.
